Sunnyside is in the “mid-island region” of Staten Island and took its name from a “boarding house that once stood there in 1889”. It lies directly between Silver Lake and Clove Lake Park. The area has a variety of homes to choose from and is adjacent to the Staten Island Expressway. Many of New York’s finest civil service workers call this place home. The old College of Staten Island was housed there until the mid 1990s and then that campus became the Michael J. Petridies School; one of Staten Island’s most respected charter schools. The neighborhood is cozy, quaint and well kept.
